Warren Covered Bridge spans Vermont’s Mad River on Covered Bridge Road and remains both a working crossing and one of Warren’s notable historic structures. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, it is built with a queen post truss and is unusual for having trusses covered on the inside as well as the outside, a feature shared by only one other surviving Vermont bridge. Its eastern portal also projects farther over the roadway than the western one. After repairs in 1995, hidden structural problems led to its closure in 1999, followed by extensive rehabilitation and rededication in 2000. Flooding from Hurricane Irene damaged an abutment in 2011, but the bridge remained intact and was open in 2020.
