Wood End Light is a historic lighthouse at Wood End near the southern tip of the Provincetown Spit in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where it guides vessels approaching Provincetown Harbor from the southwest end of Long Point. First illuminated on November 20, 1872, it became the model for the later Long Point Light tower completed in 1875. The station expanded in 1896 with a keeper’s house, storage shed, and oil house, but changing operations led to demolition of most support buildings in 1961, leaving the tower and oil house. In 1981 it became Massachusetts’s first lighthouse converted to solar power, and it joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
