Thetford Hill State Park in Thetford, Vermont, occupies part of the southern tract of Thetford Hill State Forest beside Thetford Academy and on the slopes leading toward Sunset Hill. Once logged in the 19th century, the land was donated to the state by Dwight Goddard in 1931. In the mid-1930s, Civilian Conservation Corps crews built the entrance road, gate, campground, and other features that gave the park its historic importance. Over time it shifted from an overnight campground to a day-use recreation area for hiking, cross-country running, and skiing, while retaining visible remains of its CCC-era landscape and a close connection to the academy.
