Mount Jackson is a 13,676-foot peak in the northern Sawatch Range of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, within the Holy Cross Wilderness of White River National Forest and southwest of Minturn. Classified as a thirteener, it rises above 13,000 feet and stands out as a prominent mountain in its range amid rugged alpine terrain and forested valleys. The mountain was named for photographer William Henry Jackson, who accompanied the Hayden Survey in the 1870s. His photographs helped document the American West during an important era of exploration and mapping, linking the mountain’s name to that broader history.
