Fools Peak is a 12,954-foot mountain in Colorado’s Sawatch Range within the Holy Cross Wilderness and White River National Forest. Its runoff splits between the Lime Creek drainage on the south and the East Brush Creek, Brush Creek, and Eagle River system on the north. The mountain is notable for its dramatic relief, rising steeply above Mystic Island Lake and Lime Creek. A standard climb covers about 6.5 miles each way with 4,340 feet of elevation gain, and the North Ridge is considered one of Colorado’s best ridge scrambles. Its alpine subarctic climate brings snowy winters, cool to warm summers, and possible precipitation year-round.
