Dallas Peak is a prominent 13,815-foot summit in Colorado’s Sneffels Range, rising in the Mount Sneffels Wilderness of Uncompahgre National Forest near Telluride and on the divide between Ouray and San Miguel counties. Its name was officially adopted in honor of George M. Dallas, who served as mayor of Philadelphia and later as the 11th vice president of the United States from 1845 to 1849. The mountain has an alpine subarctic climate marked by long snowy winters and short summers with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Its runoff drains south to the San Miguel River and north to the Uncompahgre River through Dallas Creek.
