Sunshine Mountain is a 12,930-foot summit in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, southwest of Telluride in the Lizard Head Wilderness of Uncompahgre National Forest. Near Wilson Peak and Lizard Head, it is notable for steep relief, rising about 2,700 feet above Bilk Creek in roughly a mile on its western side. Its geology consists of San Juan Formation rock over Telluride Conglomerate and Mancos Shale. The mountain has an alpine subarctic climate with snowy winters, summer thunderstorms, and runoff feeding tributaries of the San Miguel River. Its name was in use by at least 1899 and is officially recognized today.
