Plateau Mountain
Nature
Plateau Mountain is a broad-topped Catskill peak in Hunter, New York, within the Devil's Path range. Unlike many neighboring summits, its ridge stays above 3,500 feet for about 2 miles, creating an unusually long, flat crest. Its highest point, at least 3,840 feet, is at the southeast end near Mink Hollow Notch, while the western end overlooks Stony Clove Notch. The mountain is the 12th-highest in the Catskills, lies in Catskill State Park, and drains toward the Hudson River by several routes. Its summit ridge carries the Devil's Path, and the Long Path joins it there, making Plateau a major hiking destination and a defining central Catskills peak.
