The war memorial in Kenosha is dedicated to members of the City and County of Kenosha who sacrificed their lives defending freedom and stands as a tribute to all veterans. It honors the honored dead from the Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and Iraq War. Its front panels also present the wars fought by the United States since 1776 together with total casualties for each war, and list selected battles and campaigns from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War with casualty figures and surrender dates. It also includes a tribute declaring that the Bill of Rights and American freedoms were made real and protected by members of the armed forces on land, at sea, and in the air, and concludes with Charles M. Province's lines beginning "It is the Soldier..."
