Temperance House, built in 1837, and the New Braintree Cheese Manufacturing Co., built in 1865, stood adjacent to each other until both were destroyed by fire in 1880. The rebuilt cheese factory is now occupied by the town hall. The town hall that stood here burned on January 3, 1977.
