Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana, California, opened in September 1901 as a Romanesque Revival courthouse after Santa Ana became the Orange County seat when the county was created in 1889. Its history is closely linked to William Spurgeon’s founding of Santa Ana in 1869 and the city’s early growth over nearby rivals. Once known as the Santa Ana County Courthouse, the building later ceased serving as a working courthouse and now operates as a museum. Recognized as California Historical Landmark No. 837 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it remains a prominent civic landmark and a notable filming location.
