Forest Avenue School in Brockton, Massachusetts is a preserved one-room schoolhouse built in 1875 that now operates as the Little Red Schoolhouse Museum. This two-story wood-frame building originally had a single classroom on the first floor and an open play area above, reflecting the practical design of small neighborhood schools of its time. It remained in use until 1963, then was moved in 1969 to the grounds of the then new Brockton High School on Concord Avenue, now Memorial Drive. Its preservation as a museum and its 1982 listing on the National Register of Historic Places highlight its importance to Brockton’s educational and local history.
