Rembert Church was the site of camp meetings where Bishop Francis Asbury preached, with the first service held about 1786. In 1834 Caleb Rembert deeded eight acres to nine trustees for the use of the Methodist Church, and John A. Colclough gave an adjacent tract of 2 ½ acres; soon afterward the present church was erected. From 1800, noted ones have selected the cemetery as their last resting place.
