George H. Wark, 1878 - 1974, was dedicated to along with the men of Company D. He was an attorney in 1903, a state senator in 1917, and a leader in the Montgomery County legal profession. He served as captain of Company D of the 139th Infantry in World War I in 1918, became the first American Legion commander in 1919, and was a brigadier general in the Kansas National Guard in 1933.
