Antioch, an ancient Biblical city and a chief center of early Christianity, gave its name to many churches and cemeteries throughout the United States. In Blount County, Antioch Cemetery, once called Glover's Graveyard, has its earliest recorded burial in 1794 and serves as an important resting place for loved ones, including veterans from most American wars. On the fourth Sunday in May, Decoration Day brings families and friends together there to honor the memory of loved ones.
