The Tegu Theatre opened to great fanfare in Morrisville in 1937 and operated as a theater until 1957, after which the building was converted into a grocery store. In 2005 it became the town offices through a lease, and in 2013 it was purchased for the same purpose. At its opening, it was presented as Vermont's newest and most modern theatre, with a brightly illuminated entrance, a lobby finished in Formica and stainless steel, large French doors, illuminated advertising frames set into the brickwork, a modernistic ticket booth, and an interior described as remarkably beautiful from the entrance to the stage drop curtain.
