Baldy Cinco
Nature
Baldy Cinco is a 13,379-foot mountain in southern Colorado on the Continental Divide in the San Juan Mountains. Its slopes cross the Rio Grande National Forest, the La Garita Wilderness, and the Gunnison National Forest, and its summit stands just north of Snow Mesa and east-northeast of Spring Creek Pass. The peak belongs to a cluster of five summits in the east-central San Juans, and its name once referred to the whole group before becoming attached to this one mountain. That naming history caused confusion among climbers, while the mountain’s clear profile from Highway 149 has made it a recognizable local landmark and one of Colorado’s thirteeners.
