Winter Falls
Nature
Winter Falls is a seasonal waterfall in Silver Falls State Park east of Salem, Oregon, on the Trail of Ten Falls. Fed by Winter Creek, which runs only in the winter months, it plunges about 100 feet before hitting a steep basalt outcrop that spreads the water into a veil on its way to the pool below. It is the park’s fourth-tallest waterfall but has the lowest flow volume, making it especially dependent on wetter weather. In wet months it forms a clear cascade, while in summer it often shrinks to a dribble. It is one of several notable falls concentrated in this compact park landscape.
