Mount Weeks is the northeasternmost peak of New Hampshire’s Pliny Range and the highest point within Berlin. Once called Round Mountain, it was renamed in 1961 for John W. Weeks, the Lancaster-born United States senator whose Weeks Act of 1911 helped create the White Mountain National Forest, tying the mountain to the region’s conservation history. Its position also reflects the area’s larger landscape: it stands in the upper Connecticut River watershed, with runoff from different slopes feeding Stony Brook, Brandy Brook, Garland Brook, Stalbird Brook, the Upper Ammonoosuc and Israel rivers, and ultimately Long Island Sound.
