Rush Creek Covered Bridge, south of Tangier, Indiana, is a historic single-span Burr Arch covered road bridge built in 1904 by William Hendricks. It was the first of the three covered bridges he constructed, preceding the Wilkins Mill Covered Bridge of 1906 and the Mill Creek Covered Bridge of 1907. Those later bridges were similar in construction and became noted for their very shallow portals. Rush Creek Covered Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, recognizing its place in Indiana’s surviving covered-bridge heritage.
