Alonzo Ames Miner was born at Lempster, N.H., on Aug. 17, 1814, and died at Boston, Mass., on June 14, 1895. He served as a minister in Boston for 47 years, was president of Tufts College for 13 years, and was an overseer of Harvard College. He was also a patron of art and a leader in reforms, and was recognized for his contribution to the cause of liberal religion and liberal education.
