Hamilton Dome is a 9,764-foot summit in California’s Sierra Nevada, rising above Hamilton Lakes on the western side of the Great Western Divide in Sequoia National Park. Although its name is not officially adopted, it is tied to nearby Hamilton Lakes and Hamilton Creek, named for early meadow owner James Hamilton. The peak is notable for its abrupt relief, climbing sharply above the lakes and creek within a mile, and its runoff feeds tributaries of the Middle Fork Kaweah River. In an alpine climate shaped by Pacific storms, it has also become a technical climbing destination since the first recorded ascent in 1936, with additional routes established later.
