Longfellow Peak is an 8,904-foot mountain in Glacier National Park’s Livingston Range in Montana, just north of Paul Bunyans Cabin, with Lake Evangeline to the northeast and Ruger Lake to the east. The peak received its name during the early mapping of Glacier Park, when U.S. Geological Survey topographer R. H. Sargent honored the American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Its setting is marked by a subarctic climate, bringing long, very cold winters and short, cool to mild summers. Temperatures can drop below −10 °F, and wind chills can fall below −30 °F.
