The Teton Crest Trail is a 40-mile high-country hiking route in northwestern Wyoming, extending from Phillips Pass to String Lake in Grand Teton National Park. Regarded as one of the classic traverses of the Teton Range, it offers sustained views of sharp alpine summits and crosses repeatedly between Grand Teton National Park and Caribou-Targhee National Forest. A south-to-north traverse to String Lake covers about 32 miles, passing Alaska Basin, the Death Canyon Shelf, Mount Meek Pass, Hurricane Pass, and Paintbrush Divide. With major elevation gain and loss, the route is demanding, but its elevated terrain, open meadows, glacier access, and close views of the Tetons have made it a standout regional long hike.
