Vesta Temple is a 6,299-foot summit in the Grand Canyon of northern Arizona, rising steeply about 3,900 feet above the Colorado River in only 2.5 miles and standing near Mimbreno Point, Marsh Butte, Eremita Mesa, and Diana Temple. Runoff drains northeast toward the river through Topaz Canyon and Boucher Creek, and the summit lies in a cold semi-arid climate. Named for the Roman goddess of the hearth, home, and family in the mythological naming tradition begun by Clarence Dutton, the name was officially adopted in 1908 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. The mountain also prominently displays the Grand Canyon’s layered geology from Kaibab Limestone down to Vishnu Basement Rocks.
