Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, on property bordering Littleton, has operated every winter since opening in 1964, making it a longstanding winter recreation destination for the western Boston suburbs. Designed as a compact local resort, it includes 17 ski trails, a terrain park, and a separate tubing park with its own entrance, lodge, and restaurant. Four chairlifts and beginner surface lifts serve the hill, with easier slopes low on the mountain and intermediate and advanced terrain accessible from the chairlifts. The area is especially notable for preserving older improvised lift technology, including rope tows built from an old dump truck and other reused vehicles.
