New York Mountain
Nature
New York Mountain is a summit in Colorado’s Eagle County, with Gold Dust Peak to the south and New York Lake to the southeast. The New York Mountain Trail reaches its summit. Mining ruins from the late nineteenth century survive on the mountain, linking it to Colorado’s period of high-country mineral exploration. Its alpine subarctic climate brings cold, snowy winters and cool to warm summers. Because of its elevation, precipitation falls year-round, including winter snow and summer thunderstorms, followed by a drier period in late spring.
