Binn Mhór, meaning “great peak,” is a 661-metre mountain in the Maumturk Mountains of Connemara, County Galway, and the third-highest summit in the range. Rising above the southern side of the Máméan pass, it forms part of a high ridge with nearby subsidiary tops and has a prominence of 406 metres that gives it a strongly independent profile. Its setting is closely linked to Máméan, a pilgrimage pass dedicated to Saint Patrick since the 5th century, with devotional sites on nearby slopes. Binn Mhór is also an important walking destination, reached by a popular short climb and featured prominently on the demanding Maamturks Challenge.
