AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, opened on May 27, 2009, as the new home of the Dallas Cowboys, replacing Texas Stadium after years of debate over renovation or new construction. Owned by the city of Arlington and backed in part by voter-approved taxes, it grew into one of the most expensive sports venues of its time as costs rose to about $1.15 billion. Designed by HKS under Bryan Trubey, the stadium is known for its immense scale, retractable roof, giant video board, and flexibility for many kinds of events. It has hosted major football, soccer, basketball, wrestling, concert, and international showcase events.
