The 59th Illinois Infantry served in the 3rd Brigade under Grose, 1st Division under Cruft, and 4th Army Corps under Granger. Commanded by Major Clayton Hale, it was with Geary's Division near Cravens' House from 3 until 6:30 P.M. on November 24th, then moved to Missionary Ridge via Rossville on the morning of November 25th, 1863. Its loss was 18.
