The USS Stark (FFG-3) was an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided-missile frigate named for Admiral Harold Rainsford Stark. It was launched on May 30, 1980, commissioned on Oct. 23, 1982, and deployed to the Middle East in 1984, 1987, 1991, and 1995. The ship was decommissioned on May 7, 1999. It displaced 3,638 tons, measured 445 feet in length, reached speeds of 29 knots (36 mph), carried a crew of 206, and was armed with machine guns, missiles, and torpedoes.
