The Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter was the world's first dedicated armed attack helicopter. Because of its speed, armament, and maneuverability, it proved itself a powerful combatant during the Vietnam Conflict. This two-bladed, single-engine helicopter was flown by a pilot and co-pilot gunner. Its maximum speed was 171 mph, its range was 395 miles, and its armament included a 3-barreled 20mm mini-gun, 4 to 8 air TOW missiles, 7 to 19 rockets, and a 40mm grenade launcher. It was property of the United States Army.
