Ortonville Recreation Area, officially Ortonville State Recreation Area, is a 5,400-acre public recreation area in southeastern Michigan spanning Oakland and Lapeer counties. It combines protected land with facilities for both day use and overnight stays, supporting outdoor recreation in every season. Its trails serve hikers, mountain bikers, cross-country skiers, horseback riders, and snowmobilers, while other activities include fishing, hunting, swimming, metal detecting, and orienteering. Amenities include a beach house, boat launch, picnic spaces, a playground, a shooting range, and a campground with equestrian sites and a cabin. Together, these features make it a versatile state park landscape for short visits and longer outdoor stays.
