Mount Tipton Wilderness is a protected 30,760-acre area in northwestern Arizona covering the higher, more rugged northern reaches of the Cerbat Mountains. Its central landmark, Mount Tipton, rises to 7,148 feet as the wilderness’s highest summit. The area is valued for hiking during seasonally favorable weather and for the Cerbat Pinnacles, a striking rockscape in the northern part of the range. Its mountain elevations support varied vegetation, including ponderosa pine on Mount Tipton and piñon-juniper woodland with piñon pine, manzanita, and ceanothus elsewhere. Wild mustang horses are among the wilderness’s distinctive features, and Dolan Springs is the nearest access point.
