Crocker Mountain, a 4,228-foot peak in Carrabassett Valley in western Maine, is part of the Appalachian Mountains and the state’s fourth-highest mountain. The Appalachian Trail crosses its summit on its route from Georgia to Maine, making it a well-known landmark on that long-distance path. Between Crocker Mountain and South Crocker Mountain lies Crocker Cirque, a glacial bowl with a small pond that is accessible from the trail. The mountain also anchors several watersheds, with streams draining east to the Carrabassett and Kennebec rivers and the Gulf of Maine, and northwest and southwest toward the Dead River system within the broader Kennebec basin.
