This memorial was dedicated in grateful memory to the mothers who gave their sons, to the soldiers who gave their lives, and to those who, daring to die, survived the War of the Rebellion from 1861 to 1865. It honors men from Union who served in that war and also names the charter members of D.P. Corbin Post G.A.R. No. 74 of Union, Connecticut. The memorial was erected in 1902.
