Originally built in 1912 at Illinois's Joliet Iron and Steel Works to span the Mojave River in Victorville, this steel truss bridge was moved to its present site in 1933 and renamed the Santa Ana River Bridge. Also known as the Greenspot Road Bridge or the Iron Bridge, it carried traffic along Greenspot Road for more than 80 years, including citrus trucks, but its extremely narrow crossing made two-way vehicular travel difficult and helped create the need for a replacement. After completion of a modern four-lane bridge just west of this location, the structure gained a new life in 2015 as a multi-use trail crossing for people traveling on foot, by bicycle, and by horse. A rare example of work by Joliet Bridge and Iron Works, it is historically significant and eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
