Poppy Mountain is a 2,311-foot peak in the Taconic Mountains of western Massachusetts within Pittsfield State Forest, with its summit and western side in Hancock and its eastern slopes in Lanesborough. The Taconic Crest Trail crosses the mountain, placing it on one of the region’s main long-distance ridge walks. Although sometimes identified with Pease Ridge, that crest is more properly a sub-peak below the main summit. The mountain has several secondary high points, and older hiking guides sometimes confused its eastern summit with nearby Potter Mountain. Its wooded summit is covered by northern hardwood forest, and its streams drain west to the Hudson and east to the Housatonic, both ultimately reaching Long Island Sound.
