Divide Mountain
Nature
1
Divide Mountain is an 8,670-foot peak in the Lewis Range of northern Montana, within Glacier National Park, standing south of Saint Mary along the border with the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. Beyond its local setting, it holds a distinctive place in mountaineering lineages as the line parent of Mount Mitchell in North Carolina, the highest summit in the eastern United States. That relationship gives this Montana mountain an unusual significance in the wider geography of North American high points.
