The USU Botanical Center in Kaysville, near Salt Lake City, serves as both a botanical garden and a Utah State University distance education site focused on gardening, plant conservation, and wise water use in Utah’s dry climate. Begun in Farmington and moved to Kaysville in 1999, it grew through a broad partnership of the university, public agencies, civic groups, businesses, foundations, and individual supporters. Its arboretum arranges more than 300 trees and shrubs by irrigation needs, while wetlands, trails, an urban fishery, research areas, and the energy-efficient Utah House extend its educational and community role. Volunteer gardens and a seasonal farmers market further connect it to local needs.
