Finney Peak rises 8,110 feet in Washington’s North Cascades, west of Sawtooth Ridge in the Sawtooths and within the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness of the Okanogan–Wenatchee National Forest. Its runoff reaches Lake Chelan through Prince Creek and Cascade Creek, linking it to the steep drainage systems of the range. East of the Cascade crest, the area is somewhat drier than the western mountains, though snowfall remains heavy and snow often lingers from early fall into late spring. Finney Peak stands in a landscape formed over millions of years by terranes, volcanism, uplift, faulting, and Pleistocene glaciation, which carved the region’s deep valleys and rugged topography.
