Handies Peak is a 14,056-foot mountain in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, within the Rocky Mountains, and lies in the Bureau of Land Management’s Handies Peak Wilderness Study Area about 13.4 miles southwest by west of Lake City. It is one of Colorado’s fourteeners and is notable for combining great height and prominence with a class 1 route to the summit. That relatively straightforward ascent makes it one of the more accessible peaks of its elevation in the region and a notable summit in the San Juans.
