Gunn Peak is a 6,244-foot mountain in Snohomish County, Washington, and the highest point in the Wild Sky Wilderness. Rising about 4,100 feet above South Fork Trout Creek in only one mile, it is a striking summit whose runoff feeds tributaries of the Skykomish River. The peak was named for Amos Gunn, a homesteader and miner who founded nearby Index and named Mount Index. Its first recorded ascent was made on July 18, 1915, by Dr. Harry B. Hinman, Walter Eriksen, and Louis Lesh on their fifth attempt. Its rugged form reflects the uplift, faulting, volcanic activity, and glaciation that shaped the North Cascades.
