Mount Estella is a 3,069-metre peak in Alberta’s Jasper National Park and the second-highest in the Trident Range of the Canadian Rockies. Rising steeply above Circus Valley near Jasper, it gains about 1,100 metres in just two kilometres, giving it striking local relief. Its eastern drainage reaches the Athabasca River through Portal Creek, while its western slopes feed the Miette River through Crescent and Meadow creeks. The name appeared by 1916 during Morrison P. Bridgland’s surveys and was officially adopted in 1951. First climbed in 1930, the mountain is formed of ancient sedimentary rock later thrust and tilted during the Laramide orogeny.
