Mahogany Mountain is a 9,000-foot summit in Utah County’s Wasatch Range, just north of Pleasant Grove, on land managed by the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Prominent above communities along the east side of Utah Lake, it is especially notable for its abrupt rise from the valley, climbing about 4,100 feet above Cedar Hills in only two miles and giving it strong local relief. Runoff from its slopes drains toward Utah Lake to the southwest. Geologically, the mountain is made of Great Blue Limestone formed during the Mississippian subperiod, and its name has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
