Bubbling Waters
History
4
Before Kensington Metropark existed, Detroit journalist, poet, and labor leader Jo Labadie chose this site as a retreat from the noise and hurry-up of the big town. He and his wife, Sophie, built a house, barn, printshop, and henhouse here, and because of the nearby spring they named the place Bubbling Waters. From 1912 to 1933, Jo and Sophie Labadie used it as their summer home. Today, only the foundations of the house and printshop remain.
