Eleven sons of Monroe County served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1971: SSgt Glenn McCammon, Cpl Charles Schnegg, HM3 William Lucas, SP4 Phillip Brandon, PFC Jack Pittman, SP4 Richard Rucker, Cpl Dwight Ball, PFC Dale Hood, PFC Duane Greenlee, SSgt James Ravencraft, and SP4 Steven Janeda. They did not return, and their loss is remembered as the price paid for freedom.
