Knowlton Covered Bridge
Science & Tech
Knowlton Covered Bridge, also called the Long Covered Bridge, is a historic covered road bridge north of Rinard Mills in Washington Township, Ohio, crossing the Little Muskingum River. Built around 1860, it uses a Burr arch truss and has three spans, an unusual scale for a covered bridge in the region. Its significance as a surviving example of 19th-century bridge building in southeastern Ohio led to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and documentation by the Historic American Engineering Record in 2004. After later collapses in 2019 and 2020, it was under reconstruction as of March 2024.
