Foreaker Covered Bridge, also known in some accounts as Foraker or the Weddle Bridge, carries Monroe County Road 40 across the Little Muskingum River about three miles east of Graysville in eastern Ohio. Built in 1886 to improve travel from Monroe County’s interior farming communities to Woodsfield, it served an area of steep hills, narrow valleys, and a deeply cut river channel. The single-span covered bridge uses a king post truss with white oak walls and an oak-plank floor; Isaiah Cline built its stone abutments. Strengthened for automobiles in 1938 and repaired after a 1971 windstorm, it remains open and is one of only two surviving covered bridges in the county.
