SS Wisconsin is a Lake Michigan shipwreck south-southeast of Kenosha and an archaeological site listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Built in 1881 for the Goodrich Line, it was an unusually advanced iron-hulled package steamer and, with its sister ship Michigan, among the first double-hulled iron steamers on the Great Lakes. Its ballast compartments and ice-breaking bow reflected important innovations in shipbuilding. After fires, multiple renamings, and First World War service as a Navy convalescent hospital ship, it returned to the name Wisconsin. On 29 October 1929, it sank in a storm on a voyage from Chicago to Milwaukee, and Captain Dougal Morrison was lost with the ship.
